Chronicles is the key to understanding not just Israel's history but our own story in Christ.
The historical books of 1 and 2 Chronicles may not have the immediate allure of other Old Testament books, yet hidden within the genealogies, royal histories, and liturgical rubrics is the design, pattern, and plan for the New Covenant.
In Kingdom Come: Unveiling the Mystery of Salvation History, renowned biblical scholar Scott Hahn and Celeste Fortenberry frame 1 and 2 Chronicles as theological treasures uniting the Old and New Testaments. From Adam to Abraham to David to Jesus, the Chronicler presents the comprehensive story of salvation. Kingdom Come in turn makes that story comprehensible.
The fascinating layers of typology present in 1 and 2 Chronicles reveal the undeniable reality of God's plan—worship, covenant, priesthood, and more—culminating in the establishment of the kingdom of God on earth: the Church. Far from a segment of Scripture to ignore, Chronicles is a living word, relevant and revelatory, that Kingdom Come accentuates for all Christians today.
